Chairman FC Robo Queens Football Club of Lagos, Emmanuel Osahon has sent the condolence message to Nigeria women football league NWFL and Nigeria Football Federation NFF over the death of a renowned sports journalist,Henrietta Ukaigwe who died early today after a brief illness.
In a statement issued by FC Robo management,the club chairman described the death of late Ukaigwe as a big loss to NWFL, Nigeria Football Federation NFF and football family in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Osahon who was shocked when he read the news on social media about the death of a board member of NWFL said the late Ukaigwe was among the journalists who advocated and fought for a women football league in Nigeria saying that her death would create a big vacuum in Nigeria women football league in years to come.
“We have loss a somebody that really contributed her own quota to women football in Nigeria.Her contribution to women football in Nigeria cannot be measured at all. If we want to write history of women football in Nigeria,there is no way one would not mention Ukaigwe because she was the forefront to make sure that women league start in Nigeria which eventually started then.
On behalf of entire staff and management of FC Robo Queens,I condole with the late family, NWFL and football family in Nigeria over the death of late Ukaigwe.
May her soul rest in peace and God would give the late family a fortitude to bear the loss,”said Osahon who urged Nigeria football ruling body to immortalise the late Ukaigwe for her contribution to women Football in Nigeria when she was alive.
