Stephen Nuhu, veteran long distance coach has pleaded with the winners of the Lagos City Marathon as he calls for athletes patience over the delay on the prize money following the ravaging COVID pandemic that has dealt a urge blow to the country at large.
“On the issue of non-payment of price money for the Lagos City Marathon 2020, the athletes are aware that payment have always been made after dubbed results (always between 2 to 3 months) have been received even though there is a longer delay this year compared to previous years, I strongly attribute it to the total lockdown as a result of the scourging COVID-19 especially in Lagos”.
“I just received the official results of the Marathon yesterday and the payment will be made soonest, therefore I beseech that all the winners to exercise patience,” he cleared.
Nuhu also commended the organisers,Nilayo Sports Management for thier wonderful contribution in the development of distance running and placing Nigeria on the world map in staging one of the best Marathons.
