The national handball teams are
much more better, competitive and exposed since commencement of the administration of the Sam Ocheho Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) led board in 2017.
This was the opinion of the captain of the senior national handball women team Jasmine Udochi, who while chatted with HFN media recently on Instagram live, praised the HFN for improving the lots of all of the national teams.
“I don’t know how they do it but this HFN board ensures all the national teams (the senior men and women teams, the cadet and Junior teams) are competitive as they participate in competition they qualified for despite paucity of funds” the Holon HC of Israel left back said
” This wasn’t how it was before now when we don’t even make it to camp not to talk of attend competitions because of the ‘no money’ narratives and this made the national teams to be inactive and less competitive compared to other top African countries like Angola
Ever since this administration led by Sam Ocheho took over we have become active again and we have much better camping programmes ahead of competitions”.
Jasmine also eulogised HFN president Mr. Samuel Ocheho and the present board for creating programmes that have made the sport of handball reckon with other sports in the country.
“When I met Mr. Sam Ocheho in 2014 at his invitational championship in Lagos, I realized, while engaging him that he was so humble as he articulated his plans for handball in Nigeria.
Ever since he became the HFN president, he has helped create programmes that have made the sport grow in the country”.
She also reflected on the Africa Women Handball Cup of Nations which was to hold in August but has now been postponed to June 2021 and promised that with the support of the federation, Nigeria will do better than previous years.
