Idiagbon section emerged champions in the maiden edition of the Daystar Christian center fellowship Teens Champions League which came to an end on Saturday November 10 2018. The league was organized by the College Zone, Ifako Ijaiye, under the leadership of Olumide Ojewunmi.
Eight teams representing each section of the zone took part in the competition which was conducted in a knock out format.
Idiagbon section defeated Erinosho section 1 – 0 in the thrilling final, while Sawdust walkover Delly in the third Place Match over the weekend, Saturday November 10 at Coker Primary School Ifako-Ijaiye.
Coordinator of the event Yemi Obende told sports247.ng that the purpose of the competition is to. “Provide a better avenue for the prevention of youthful exuberance and juvenile delinquency and also create opportunities and platforms whereby youths and adolescents would be kept busy and at the same time establish a vibrant forum for regular interactions.”
Yemi Obende also noted that the event will be bigger and better in the coming editions.
Several dignitaries witnessed the event including a top FIFA liecensed scout Onipede olawale who noted that he has identified lots of talented youths during the course of the tournament and has also promised to bring in foreign scouts from Sporting Lisbon to pick the exceptional talents from the league. He thanked the Senior Pastor of the church, Pastor Sam Adeyemi for always inspiring the community with quality role model leaders.
Onipede olawale also called on the government at all levels including the local government chairman and state governor his Excellency Akinwunmi Ambode to key into such a life impacting sporting event.
The winner of the tournament Idiagbon section went home with lots of amazing prizes promising to win the next edition which organizers has promised will be better.
