Sport stakeholders in Lagos have continued to lament over the closure of sport centres after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu relaxed lockdown on Tuesday.
Although the stakeholders expected state government to relax lockdown on sports activities this week but unfortunately sport centres, schools, hotels and other recreational centres still remain shut for now according to state government.
Some stakeholders who spoke to our correspondent said they were disappointed and shocked that the sport centres and sports activities still remain shut after three months total lockdown in the state.
Taofeek Ganiu,a Lagos based football Organiser said he is tired of staying at home and urged the government to look into sports activities in the state.
While, another football Organiser based in Alimosho,Muri Olaleye said there is no reason why state government cannot reopen sport centres or lift ban on sports activities saying that most of the the European countries have started lifting lockdown on their sports activities and other critical economic sectors.
In his own comment, Abolaji Kazeem Adeoye,another football Organiser based in Ebute -metta, Mainland said he was on fasting and prayer for some days for government to relax lockdown on sports activities but unfortunately all his effort yielded futile result.
Coach of Oasis FC, Abidemi Abiolu urged the state and federal governments to look into sports saying millions of youths in Nigeria are involved in sport activities to make their daily bread.
While HOP football academy coach sent a message that he is tired of being idle and staying at home saying that football is part of his life.
Meanwhile Lagos State Football Coaches Association has issued official statement states that all their affiliated members to humbly adhere to the directives of both state and federal governments by staying away from sports activities pending the time the lockdown would be lifted on sport industry.
When our correspondent visited sports centres in Lagos,activities are paralysed, while some football playground witness gradual return of football activities.
Some players in a chat with our correspondent said they have stayed at home for almost four months saying they need to return to football pitch to exercise their body.They said involving in sport activities keep them fit ahead of reopening of sport centres in Lagos.
