Kwara United have commiserated with the Nigerian Football Federation, Enugu state people and the entire soccer fraternities in the country over the death of Honorable Chidi Ofo Okenwa.
The heartbreaking news of the demise of the Enugu state Football Association chairman came on Tuesday afternoon, May 5, after been diagnosed as having leukemia.
United in an official statement paid touching tribute to late Okenwa describing his death as a huge loss to Nigerian football.
“We are so sad and devastated to hear about the death of Chief Chidi Okenwa and we want to commiserate with his family and friends.
“We equally condole the Nigerian Football Federation, Enugu state people and football lovers in the country over this great loss.
“It is our prayer that God in His Infinite Mercy forgives him and make him rest in peace,”. Kwara United stated officially.
Before his death, Chief Chidi Okenwa was also the Head of the Nigerian National League which is the second tier football in the country.
His remains has however been deposited in a morgue in Enugu with plans coming on the day he will be interred.
