I have gone through a lot of stuffs in the short years I’ve lived so far. Naturally, I’m a very daring person and I like taking calculated risks. But this has led me into countless failures and loss of money. One particular instance comes to mind:
In 2008, while I was doing my mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in a remote village called Tunkus, in Mikang LGA, Plateau State; our Corpers’ Liaison Officer called me one day and proposed that we invest in livestock farming. His idea was very simple: We’ll buy calves, give them to the cattle rearers and within a year, we would sell them for a profit. It sounded like a very good idea to me. So I quickly borrowed money from my mum, two gentlemen and added my own savings, to buy a calf. I was so elated and was already dreaming of the huge profits I would make from the sale of the calf once it had grown up.
However, less than three (3) weeks after I bought the calf, it DIED!!! It was very painful; I almost cried. Despite the loss, I still had to return the borrowed money.
At a point in my unique journey, I became fed up with life generally because my finances weren’t adding up. I was working so hard, yet had very little money. The more I tried to make ends meet, the more I failed at it.
But guess what? I kept at it!!! I realized that to truly become wealthy, you don’t pursue money for the sake of it; you ATTRACT IT! How? By Adding more Value to lots of people.
So I began to develop the capacity to serve people on a global scale. My testimony is that though I’m yet to be where I want to be financially; but I am not where I used to be.
This is for you, if like me you’ve had your own fair share of financial struggles: DON’T GIVE UP! Keep faith in yourself, your dreams and most importantly, in God.
