Oliseh clears the air: I didn’t say I will not coach the Super Eagles again

One time Super Eagles coach and former Juventus midfielder, Sunday Oliseh has come out to clear the air on the statement he made concerning coaching the Super eagles of Nigeria again.

According to him, he was misinterpreted and never said he would not coach the eagles again. Earlier this week, it was widely reported that former captain of the Super eagle’s said he would not coach the eagles if given the opportunity anymore.

But the former Ajax Amsterdam player has come out to make a clarification on the stated reported he made on coaching the Super eagles. In his official instagram and twitter accounts he said. “…I will never abandon my country, Nigeria. I am a proud Nigerian and I will always be available to help my country. What I said clearly in that interview, I was asked if I would accept to coach the Super eagles again”

Oliseh’s response to the question was the twist of the story as different meanings were birthed from it. According to him “as long as the situation of the country remains the same, as long as local coaches do not get the same treatment given to the foreigners, I am not interested in coaching.

In the previous interview, Oliseh told the public how he was owed several months salary. He also complained how Nigerian coaches were being own Salaries while their foreign counterparts do not suffer the same fate.

Oliseh qualified Nigeria to the CHAN tournament in Rwanda, qualified the country to the group phase of the 2018 world cup Qualifiers. In his first game as coach of the Eagles in an AFCON qualifier, he managed an away draw against Tanzania. Oliseh last managed Dutch side, Fortuna Sittard after he was appointed in 2016.

But he was fired on 14 February 2018, after claiming the reason he was let go was that he refused to participate in illegal activities at the club.
