Chairman of the Nigerian Football Federation Amaju Pinnick has said that the Super Eagles will now be paid with Naira as again the foreign currency they are receiving now. The Nigeria Football Federation are set for a collision course with the Super Eagles stars after the President revealed that the players will be paid their bonuses in the local currency. In the past, members of the Super Eagles had rejected the move.
There is a lot to lose if the plans of paying the Super eagles in naira materialize because there is a gap between the official and parallel market rates.
“The players when they play in Nigeria, their bonuses have been in Naira,” Amaju Pinnick tells Channels Television
“When they play abroad they’ll be paid in dollars but that I won’t tell you because we are going to take so many difficult discussions that will go across the board because we need to promote our fiscal policy.
“If the government is saying that we need to strengthen our Naira we shouldn’t be paying dollars. We are an integral part of the government.”
Before now, the NFF had added some classes to Gernot Rohr’s proposed new contract which stipulates that the German coach will be paid his salary in Naira.
