Shehu Dikko rates NPFL among best Leagues in the World

Nigerian Football Federation second vice President, Shehu Dikko has revealed that the Nigerian Professional league has what it takes to compete with other leagues around the globe with its robust Framework and rules which is not just in Africa but the world as everything is clearly envisaged and dealt with.

The 2nd VP said “Indeed, we have rules for attestation where before a club is registered for a season it must present attestation from its players that they are not being owed. At our last meeting with the clubs we agree to even strengthen this to demand proof of the payment such as vouchers or bank receipts that the player is paid or a mutual agreement to pay him within 60 days if he is owed”.

Revealing further, “there is also the rule book allows LMC to inquire into any club financial situation including debts etc. and that has been done severally but unfortunately these are not matters for media for obvious reasons. Even as we speak we are on the same process with a club”.

However with regards to players and coaches debts, if any, we need to get a formal complaint and compliance to the processes in the rules book before we can act. So what we advise to anyone is follow the rules and we do the needful and we always do. Also during the processes it’s also not a media matter and most times it’s resolve. We only go to media when it’s not resolved and sanctions issued.

“Concerning the coaches, the rule is similar as a coach is required to deposit his contract with LMC within certain time after signing and so it’s documented and thus any breach will be dealt with. The players and coaches are thereby encouraged to always use trusted, professional agents in their contacts so if there is any issue they can assist in resolving it”, Shehu admonished.
