Former Nigerian International, Finidi George has indicated that he is ready to coach any of the national team.
While answering questions on Nigeria’s biggest sports WhatsApp group, NSM rebranded, Finidi said he is willing and ready for the job.
“Yh, I think I’m willing and ready if an opportunity arises to coach any of the super eagles, U-20, U- 17, I will not say no, I think I’m ready, we have all the experiences, it is just for us to have that platform and have the opportunity. We are Nigerians and we have sacrificed for the country’.
Speaking on if he is capable or not, the former winger said,
‘of course, everything is possible in football, if you don’t try someone, you will not know if he’s capable or not. When we were coming up, if Westerhof did not take that chance on us, we will not be here, he took chances on me, Oliseh and lots of other players. If you can choose the right players to play for Nigeria, we will get the results’.
Finidi who started his career from the Nigerian league said the league has dropped drastically and is not competitive anymore.
‘actually our premier league has dropped, I’m not impressed. If the league is competitive, we should be competing with other African countries on the continent, in the past Enyimba and a couple of clubs did well but at this point, we are not good enough and we need to get things done in the right way’.
Finidi George played 62 times for the Super Eagles scoring 6 goals and also played in the local league for Calabar Rovers, Iwuanyanwu Nationale (Heartland FC of Owerri), Sharks (Rivers United) between 1989 and 1993 before moving to Europe where he won lots of trophies including the Uefa Champions League.
