Interview: Current Super Eagles can win the World Cup… I want to play in the Uefa Champions League – Eduok

Nigerian international, Samuel Emem Eduok has expressed optimism about playing in the Uefa Champions League in some years time.

Eduok who currently plies his trade with Croatian club side, Hajduk Split said he would love to play in the UCL and big clubs in either Spain, Germany or France as he answered some questions in an interview via WhatsApp platform NSM on Sunday.

‘In three years time, I just wanna play champions league you know, errr play in the best clubs in Europe, Germany, France, Spain, you know that’s my dream, you know in England, that’s my dream, you know in three years time, in which I know in football anything is possible, I just have to keep working hard, you know scoring goals as much as I can, you know so that within that period I can achieve my goals’

Speaking on how he adapted to life outside of Nigeria, Eduok stressed that it was a difficult one and it was not easy for him.

‘my transition was errm, was difficult, you know everything changes, you know the weather, because in Tunisia it was cold too, so it changes, it was not that easy, which is what almost all the players that leave Nigerian league to play overseas face, you know it is always difficult in the first season because they have to adapt, but for me, it was pretty difficult’

The former Akwa United loanee lauded the improvement in the NPFL as he urged clubs to take players’ welfare more serious for players not to keep moving to Europe where they are paid more.

‘the NPFL I think it is better, you see every weekend, some teams, lots of teams now win away, so I think there is lots of improvement in it. I think in the NPFL, players welfare, they don’t pay lots of money so if a player gets the opportunity to play overseas, I think it’s better because they pay more money and I think it is better’.

The former Flying eagles player expressed his wish to play for the Super Eagles again as he described the current crop of Super Eagles players as good players.

‘every player’s dream is to play for the national team, I have been working hard hoping to come back soon, the recent Super Eagles are good players, they have been representing us well, putting their best and winning games, so they are very good players’.

Since joining Hadjuk Split in 2019, the 26 year old has scored 9 goals in 19 appearances for the Croatian club side after enjoying good stint with Turkish side, Kasimpasa.
