Ex Chelsea star, Mikel Obi has backed his decision to terminate his contract with Turkish giants, Trabzonspor after he refused to play over the growing concerns of Coronavirus outbreak with other leagues suspended in bid of safety.
The UCL winner in his Instagram post shared his appreciation and why he had to take such decision despite Trabszonspor hold of the title. “I would like to thank the fans for all their support and also my team mates, technical crews,medical crew and kits men for all that we have achieved this season”.
“Wishing you guys best of luck in wining the league, it was one of the hardest decision I had to make but in this situation, we all need the cares of our family, spend time with them and protect them”.
Mikel Obi further revealed his duscussion held with Trabzonspor:“I was told to meet with president. He asked me to take it down (Instagram post).
“I told him I wasn’t going to do that. It’s my opinion. This’s how I feel.I have freedom of speech.I can express my opinion.”
