Nasarawa United failed to continue their winning home streak for the first time since the commencement of the second stanza of the 2019/2020 Nigerian Professional Football League Season.
The Solid Miners were hosting Akwa United of Akwa-Ibom in Lafia in the matchday 25 fixture in the midweek with the hope to increase their one hundred per cent home record since the league entered the second phase and make progress on the league log.
But all that got slowed down as Akwa United forced them to a goalless stalemate before a large home crowd who had come out to cheer them to victory.
With the home side dominating the game and plethora of goalscoring chances not utilized, the South-South visitors proved impenetrable and unbreakable as both teams shared the spoils at the end of regulation time.
Speaking shortly after the game, Head Coach of Nasarawa United, Abubakar Arikya said they are not deterred by the result.
“That is football, sometimes you play good and still don’t get the desired result, so, we take today’s result in good faith.”
He said the team will restrategize ahead of subsequent games.
“Every match has its plans. Whenever we are set for another task, we will definitely come out with the game plan.
Abubakar Arikya who said the players largely played to instructions, added that the technical crew would further work on the team on dead-ball execution, after they were unable to utilize chances emanating from free-kicks.
