Governor Samuel Ortom Saturday 7th March, 2020 visited the Benue State owned Lobi Stars Football Club to commiserate with the team over the fire incidence that consumed the Club bus on their way back from Ilorin after a savouring Match Day 22 away victory over Kwara United FC.
The response of The Governor was quick, timely and a demonstration of love for Lobi Stars as he has always done. Recall the gesture of the brand new bus which is a higher capacity and latest model to the razed one came just 5 days after the unfortunate incidence.
Governor Ortom also uplift the spirit of The Team with a cash support of 10 Million Naira to cushion the effect of the loses incurred during the bus fire inferno.
Delivering the bus and cash support, Governor Ortom poured encomiums on the club for doing the the state proud, considering the impressive results in the league amidst difficult times in the state and having produce players of International standard all over, on the strength of that he promised to also make the players proud of the state if they eventually win the league. The defender of the Benue valley concluded with scriptural prayers for Lobi Stars taken from Psalms 118.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the club Mr Mike Idoko Okpe in his welcome address was full of gratitude to The Governor who have been very supportive of the club and to have taken time out his busy schedule to come and sympathize and encourage Lobi Stars over the unfortunate incidence of the bus fire inferno.
The stand in captain of the club Mr Atsaka Daniel in his vote of thanks on behalf of his team mates appreciate Governor Ortom for placing the welfare of Lobi Stars on first line Charge and for been responsive to their plight as no club in the NPFL is enjoying the support of their various state governments in the like of Lobi Stars, he further went ahead to play Oliver Twist by urging the Governor to also treat their match bonuses in the same manner that he has dealt with salaries and other incidentals.
The visit of the Governor was less than 24 hour to the crucial NPFL 2019/2020 Match Day 23 fixture against Kano Pillars in Makurdi and it expected to serve as a morale booster ahead of the game.
