NPFL 2019/20: ABIA NETS 10TH GOAL OF THE SEASON, LEVEL WITH NDIFREKE

Failing to score against Abia Warriors, Ndifreke Effiong has now been caught at the top of the Nigerian Professional Football league goal scorers’ chart.

The striker who had scored in the last three matches of Akwa United including a brace against city rivals, Dakkada FC could not replicate the form yesterday in Umuahia where his side fell to a 2-1 shocking defeat.

Israel Abia on the other hand scored the match winner for Enugu Rangers at the Cathedral to draw level with Ndifreke on 10 goals while Isaac Loute scored a beautifully curled free-kick for the opener.

The gap between the top two remains at one after Victor Mboama was not in action in the league as his club, Enyimba were on the continent against Horoya AC. The striker has 9 goals for the season.

Mbaoma is also one goal ahead of Mustapha Ibrahim of Plateau united who has been out injured but now ready for action and Katsina United’s captain, Taisu Lawal who both have 8 goals for the season.

Behind the two is Auwalu Ali of Kano Pillars who scored yesterday in the Maisu Gida’s 2-0 win over Dakkada FC in Kano. The forward now has 7 goals for the season and is currently above the likes of Abubakar Lawal (Nassarawa United), Stanley Dimgba (Enyimba), Arakandut Orok (Akwa United) and three others who tied on 6 goals.

Former Osun United striker, Tosin Omoyele added to his goal tally for the season with a beautiful goal as Plateau United remain top of the table after seeing off Jigawa Golden Stars by two goals to one.
