Ibrahim Bako was declared winner as the new Chairman, Gwagwalada Area Football Council after all five delegates voted for him on Friday.
During his acceptance speech, the Chairman, Gwagwalada Area Council Coaches Association, promised to steer the ship of football in the Council to higher level. He however, admitted that he needs the help of his cabinet and all football stakeholders in Gwagwalada to take football in the Area Council to where it ought to be.
Bako added that his emergence as Chairman means there is a huge task ahead of him, hence, all hands must be on deck for them to perform for the benefit of all.
“Emerging winner in today’s election means there is a huge task ahead of me but with the help of my cabinet, the coaches and all the stakeholders in Gwagwalada we shall take the game to the next level.
He harped on getting sponsors and completions of sporting venues in the Area Council as major achievement if the newly voted Board could achieve before the end of their first term.
“The first two things we need to do is to find a way of getting sponsors and also get who can assist us put the facilities in place, we are really lacking and suffering from these two highlighted challenges. And if these two things can be achieved, trust me, we have solved high percentage of our problems. Everything will just fall in place.
“To achieve this, we need the support of every stakeholder and we are open to embrace ideas that will make us succeed.
He heaped praises on the Federal Capital Territory Football Association, Alhaji Adams Mohammed Mouktar for organising a free, fair and peaceful election for football stakeholders choose who they want to lead them.
“This is the first time election will be held in Gwagwalada, i mean election that follow due process that allow stakeholders elect someone they truly want to lead them.”
Meanwhile, Mr Musa Mudasir and Nuhu Bada emerged Vice-Chairman and Member Gwagwalada Football Area Council respectively.
All the five delegates cast their votes for both of them, though, emerged as winners unopposed.
