Chairman of the Kwara state Basketball Association, Dr Joseph Adeyemo, has charged Basketball referees and table officials in Nigeria to ensure the sustenance of the values of transparency, credibility, integrity and maintain strict compliance to the laws of the game while discharging their duties.
Dr Adeyemo gave the charge while speaking at the three days organised a workshop for Basketball officials in Ilorin on Friday where he lauded the organiser for efforts put into the organisation of the clinic.
He stated that game officials should not relent in acquiring knowledge to keep themselves updated with the latest rules of the games being practised globally and assured that the Kwara state Basketball Association will always be open for support and assistance.
He, however, called on stakeholders in Nigeria basketball industry to put aside their differences which had affected the development of Basketball in the last three years, saying it has been to the detriment of the key actors (players, referees, coaches, administrators & others) who earned their source of living through basketball.
While reacting, the Musa Kida led the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) through League director, Andrew Isopkhai, appreciated the Kwara state basketball Association for its unwavering support in recent times and restated the NBBF commitments towards formulating a way forward for Nigeria Basketball in 2020.
Similarly, Chairman, Director of Sports Forum in Nigeria, Coach Tunde Kazeem, heaped praise on the NBBF for its recent achievements and advised on the need to explore in the area of getting Nigerians abroad to represent the National team.
The workshop will officially will rounded up on Saturday where participants that came across the nation will be presented with certificates.
