Female national team, Super Eagles Falcons’ star, Chioma Wogu is looking beyond this month’s Africa Women Cup of Nations, as she says her focus is already on next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Although the Falcons have to prosecute the continental championship, starting with their first match against South Africa on November 18 in Cape Coast, Ghana, Wogu told sports247.ng that she has high ambitions of excelling at the Mundial.
Wogu stressed that going to Ghana 2018 is just a stepping stone to the global challenge, where she believes the Falcons would be able to pull off their best performance ever come next year.
For now, though, Wogu admitted that the team will have to keep preparing well and work harder to do well in Ghana, where they will aim to retain the title they won in Cameroon two years ago, as they go for a ninth continental title all together.
Wogu said: “I know what we are about to face in Ghana, but I am sure we will do well and win the cup again.
“That’s why I am looking toward next year already, when we will play again at the World Cup. My aim, and that of my Falcons teammates, will be to achieve greatness at the World Cup.”
