Kwara State Government has charged athletes and officials participating in 20th Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), to demonstrate high level of discipline and sportsmanship.
The state Governor, Malam AbdulRahman AbdulraZaq gave the charge while declaring open the 20th edition of NIPOGA at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin on Saturday.
Abdulrazaq, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, explained that NIPOGA has proved to be a unifying factor and a tool for fostering national integration among polytechnics, mono technics and colleges of technology throughout the federation.
The governor also noted that from time immemorial, sports has helped in developing friendly relationship among nations, build courage, mental alertness, perseverance, discipline, fair play among others.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensure sports development to maximally and meaningfully engage the youths.
