Buruj Boys lost their friendly game to Excel Football Academy despite our soaking up pressure.
In the first half, We were starting to edge the possession stats, stringing together some nice passing moves and looking to get our boys forward in attack at every opportunity.
Buruj Boys were hoping to be better than their limp showing at the last match, but found themselves caught out on the break early on when the first goal came in 2mins of the first half.
But from his pull-back Chidera Amuji twice pulled simple saves out of Excel’s Defender from a good position.
It was from such a position that an increasingly threatening Excel F.A passed up another chance, with Buruj Sports sliding in unsuccessfully to meet the impressive teenager’s driven cross.
The first half ended in 1 – 0
The second half opened in much the same vein as the first period. Both sides were looking dangerous going forward, in the 70mins Excel FC swipped deep ball back across goal resulting in 2 – 0
According to the Coaching Crew “Individually, some of our players performed beyond expectation while some are below expectation, the overall team performance is on average. There is need to work on our defence, especially the central and attackers, the attacks. We will also mount pressure on our players scoring abilities”. He concluded.
The CEO Salaudeen Waheed Buruj said “For the match our expectation was for the players to exercise quality football which they did, but our Goal Keeper Edet Inyang didn’t complement the effort of the team cos he was careless with his saves”.
