The Rivers Government is ready to ensure sports activities are revived in public primary and secondary schools as well as in approved private schools in the state, an official has said.
Aribitonye Okiri, the Special Adviser on Schools Sports to Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers, disclosed this in Port Harcourt.
He said the state government was going to provide needed facilities in schools in order to accomplish this goal.
Okiri said this would help in growing talents and creating the required consciousness among youths and encourage them to take to sports for wealth-creation.
“Even though some schools lack sports facilities, the state government will create an enabling environment for sponsors to partner with the state to invest in sports development in Rivers schools,’’ the governor’s aide said.
