Sri Lanka defeated Nigeria by 233 runs to secure a place in the Plate League semi-finals at the ongoing Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
The Asians third-place finish in Group A as well as Nigeria’s bottom place in Group B saw both sides condemned to the Plate League quarter-finals at the Ibbies Oval in Potchefstroom.
In the match, the Junior Yellow Greens won the toss and elected to field.
The Asians, however, scored a total of 306 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs.
In the second innings, Nigeria succumbed to the bowling prowess of their experienced counterparts who limited them to 173 runs in 17.3 overs, all out.
The win has qualified Sri Lanka for the Plate semi-finals while Nigeria are relegated to the Plate play-off semi-finals.
