The much-talked about 2018 Lagos City Women’s Race has recorded a mammoth registration figures of over 10,000 runners from across the metropolis and its environs, sports247.ng has gathered.
This much was disclosed by race coordinator, Tayo Popoola, who said the event, tagged women run for good health, has attracted massive followership among would be participants and commercial ventures.
Popoola added that the 10 kilometre race for all classes of women is already boosted with major sponsorship from sports betting portal, Bet9ja.
Similarly, the director of media and publicity, Dapo Sotuminu said the majority of registered runners are from Lagos Island, Lekki and Aja axis of Lagos State.
Sotuminu described it as an improvement of last year’s edition, when majority of the runners were from Ikorodu.
He added that the largest registrations were done online through the Lagos Women Run official website, while the number of registrations received physically were also encouraging.
Popoola added that registration is still on at the LWR secretariat at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, and they expect a better race with vast improvements on what obtained at the 2017 edition.
