Olufunke Oshonaike who is regarded as one of the best Nigerian tennis players of her generation and has represented Nigeria at five Olympic Games has taken to instagram to celebrate her first son’s birthday with fans pouring in birthday wishes and prayers for the young lad.
Olufunke wrote ” I named him unique because he was born on the 1st and was the first baby of the year in Hamburg. To God be the glory, my baby is now a teenager. Happy birthday to my uniquely unique boy. He will continue to grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Many wished funke’s lad well with Tabletennisnigeria commenting: happy birthday to him ma.
The Nigerian table tennis player started her playing career on a street called Akeju Street in Shomolu, Lagos, in the early 1980s while very young.
At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro,funke competed in the women’s single division. In the preliminary round, she defeated Mariana Sahakian of Lebanon. In round 1, she was defeated by Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico and was the flagbearer for Nigeria during the Parade of Nations.
