Boxing promoter and match maker, Bernard Otunola has revealed the idea and details of the Eko boxing brawl expected to kick off in January for four months, February, March and April inclusive.
The boxing tournament which is in two phase has boxing after dark mainly as a platform of discovering talents while Eko boxing is a place where the discovered boxers are turned Pro.
In an exclusive chat with Sports247.ng, Otunola confirmed the plans in place for the tournament, ” This event, our boxers will be treated very well, we have corporate sponsors who are ready to come on board to make this program a success “, he said.
” Nigeria is lacking behind in boxing, we have the least number of boxers in each weight class, this tournament is seeking to get good boxers to fill in the space and in turn compete with other boxers from different countries”
“The youth are the target audience solely to discover, nurture and help youths develop themselves from the crime kind of life to where there potentials can be harnessed for greatness”, Otunola ended.
