Highly rated striker Tolulope Ojo has promised to score goals that would help propel his new team, Bendel Insurance of Benin to the elite league of Nigerian football.
The former Lobi Stars and Ekiti United forward put in impressive display during the NNL league for the Edo Gunners in the 2-0 win over J. Atete, before he was substituted in the 75th minutes of the encounter to warm applause from the crowds.
Speaking after the game, Ojo, who revealed that he modelled his game after the famous Athletico Madrid forward Diego Costa, was upbeat about the chances of his new team to pick a promotion ticket to the top flight of Nigerian football.
” Thank God, we’ve started on a good note. The victory over J. Atete is a morale booster for us, as the three points is very important, ” he remarked.
Despite his impressive display during the match, the fast paced 20 years old striker was not happy that he couldn’t put his name on the scorers chart in the game.
Last season,Ojo, who is fondly called OT9 by his growing admirers scored eight goals in as many matches to help his former club Ekiti United escape relegation by the whiskers.
” I am never happy if I don’t score during matches. It is my job as a striker to score and help my team win matches. I won’t relent because I have set a target of 15 goals for myself this season and hope it would help my team get the needed promotion to the NPFL at the end of the season, ” he stated.
