The Technical manager of Bendel Insurance FC of Benin Benard Ogbe has expressed delight over his side’s 2-0 victory against J.Atete in their first Nigeria National League(NNL) game played in Benin today.
The Benue born tactician was speaking in an interview with Journalists shortly after the game at the University of Benin Sports Complex in Benin City. He said though his team played below their his expectation but that he was happy they won.
” in every game,what we aim at is a win and to God be the glory we achieved that. But my team just played below our standard and I want to excuse them because I think it was due to pressure or anxiety because this is our first game of the league.
We are going to start preparing immediately for our next game against Bayelsa Utd so to build on what we have done.” Ogbe said.
On the officiating,the Insurance handler rated it on the average and okay,but however expressed the hope that it gets better as the league progresses.
Ammar Abdulkareem and Efe Enabulele scored a goal each to secure the first victory for the Benin arsenal who resumed their battle for redemption in the second tier league made up of 44 teams who will be slugging out for promotion to the elite division .
The expanded abridged NNL just began nationwide yesterday (Friday) and Insurance would not want to further disappoint their proprietor (Edo Government) who has given them all the necessary encouragement good enough to succeed and get immediate return ticket to the Nigeria Professional Football League.
The Benin arsenal who unveiled their new technical manager Benard Ogbe on Wednesday with launching of new jerseys for the season played in the NPFL last season and narrowly missed the cut off mark to remain there. And there is no doubt they are hungry for another taste of elite division football actions.
