Founder and Director of Kg Sports Academy Dr. Gabriel Ken Gadaffi has Challenged Nigeria Clubs to have Academies and Football Schools in Communities to enhance Grassroot Development of Football.
The Erudite Prof. who is Special Adviser of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia made this call during a presentation on “How to Market Football Academies and Clubs” at the FCAAN D licence Coaching Course taking place at Joijen Hotels and Resort, Akure Ondo State.
“Nigerian Clubs should emulate the foreign Clubs by taking the game to Schools and Communities in order to attract young players” He stated
“When You go to London for example, there are Arsenal Soccer Schools in several Schools which are run by the schools in affiliation to Arsenal Football Club, Similarly you find other top clubs in Europe like Barcelona, Real Madrid in communities and this helps to market those clubs and attract more fans” he enthused
“We want to see the era when clubs like Enyimba will have soccer schools in Aba, Clubs like Kano Pillars should have Soccer Schools in Kano and Clubs like MFM will have soccer Schools around Lagos” he suggested
Dr. Ken in his lecture to about 55 Coaches aspiring for the FCAAN D Diploma Course gave out 10 Tips on how Clubs and Academies can Market themselves and Attract Sponsorship. These includes, Updating of the team uniforms, Keeping the facilities clean, Choreograph the warmup / Cool Down routine, Improve the fan experience, Develop a logo, Choose a motto, Use social media, Marketing Plans, Treat Players Professionally and Show them Care
“The dependent on government for funds for sports teams should be eradicated and clubs should fashion out ways to attract Community Funding and Corporate Sponsorship” He epitomized.
The Football Coaches who are from Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana are taking part in the one week programme, which would enable them to know the modern techniques of coaching.
FCAAN D Diploma course consists of both the theoretical and practical aspects of Coaching.
Presentation of Certificates to the Participants would be held on friday, 15th November, 2019 during a colourful ceremony at the venue of the training, Jojein Hotel and Resort, Oba Ile, Akure, Ondo state.
FCAAN had last June in Ibadan, Oyo state, held a E and D diploma courses for over one hundred and forty Football Coaches.
