The Super Eagles of Nigeria kicked of their 2021 AFCON campaign on a winner note , as they defeated the squirrel of Benin Republic by 2-1 goals at the end of ninety minutes.
The Super Eagles had to come from behind to ensure the visitors go back home empty handed, the squirrel took the lead in the third minutes of play through Sessegnon before Osihmen equalised on the brink of half time to ensure the Eagles did not go on break without making their mark .
On resumption of second half the Eagles were all over the squirrel untill the 63rd minutes when Samuel kalu scored the second goal to put the Eagles ahead during the game.
The two goalscorers were replaced with Ola Aina and Ahmed Musa , Musa came in for Osihmen while Aina replaced kalu , the visitors on their own part did not make any changes for the duration of the game .
Nigeria tops group L , and will be travelling to face Lesotho in the next game on Sunday .
