The President of National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers, Tijani Babangida, MON, has urged Nigeria Footballers present and past and in diaspora to rally round ailing former Nigeria star Kadiri Ikhana who is down with hip and spinal problems.
Babangida made this demand in a chat with the media, as he reiterated the mission of the players’ union to help provide and ensure Nigerian footballers, at home and diaspora gets improved welfare package and support from the union.
He particularly admonish current players plying their trade home and diaspora to make financial contributions to the ‘GET KADIRI IKHANA BACK ON HIS FEET FUND’ put in place by NANPF to raise funds for the medical treatment and health support of the former Sunshine Stars and Enyimba of Aba coach.
” Let me seize this opportunity to plead with all footballers to kindly come out and give financial support to one of our own, Kadiri Ikhana.
” He seriously needs our financial and moral assistance at this time in his life. I want us to be our brother’s keeper,” the softly spoken and hardworking former Nigeria and Ajax Amsterdam star winger said.
Meanwhile, the award winning soccer tactician last week in Abuja had a successful minor surgery to his hip problem.
