Thursday 24th October, 2019 will always be remembered as the Lagos Supervisors for Education Forum (LASEF), paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed members of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) under the chairmanship of Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King at exactly 12:00 noon.
The LASEF members were joyfully received by Hon. Temidayo Israel, a permanent member of the board in charge of special duties alongside some members and Directors of the board.
According to LASEF through the Chairman, Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon who double as the Supervisor for Education & Tourism of the premier Local Government in Nigeria, Badagry identified some issues militating the expected standard of education in our various local governments of the state and gave some suggestions such as:
1. Engagement of more qualified hands to take charge of teaching in our schools.
2. Conversion & promotion to appropriate cadres.
3. Building Capacity through impactful trainings with the trending technologies to aid our teachers teaching methodologies.
4. Welfare of teaching and the non-teaching staff in all our schools.
5. Ensuring quality & smooth working relationship with all our principals (LGs Chairmen) through a complementary effort.
A lot were really discussed and solutions to them were also proffered immediately.
In his response, the Chairman of the board through Hon. Temidayo Israel thanked the LASEF executives for their proactiveness in the right direction and also did judgment to the identified challenges one after the other.
According to him, he said His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu has given the go ahead for conversion of any teachers with such problems and assured us of proper care of the teaching and non teaching staff as this is one of the moves in attracting productivity.
Speaking further, Hon. Temidayo Israel states that 15,000 teachers to be recruited while almost 250-300 schools are going to enjoy quick intervention.
He used the opportunity to express the readiness of the Wahab Alawiye-King led administration of LASUBEB with LASEF and every other necessary stakeholders to achieve the vision of making Lagos a model in the area of education.
And according to the chairman, Lagos Supervisors for Education Forum (LASEF) Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon, appreciated Hon. Temidayo Israel the man in charge of LASUBEB special duties and all other board members present at the meeting, saying “he has no doubt in him that from the slogan adopted by the Board,
LASUBEB…Leave No Child Behind is indeed a new dawn to Lagos Education Sector” he concluded.
From both SUBEB and LASEF, gift items were later exchanged as a way of appreciation.
