Super Eagles team coordinator, Patrick Pascal has supported the idea of keen competition among players in the Nigerian national team, hence the recent spate of new lads that have been introduced to the squad.
The ex-international defender told sports247.ng that Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr wants every member of the team to fight for their position in the squad, hence the introduction of new players to the invitees.
Pascal, though, refused to entwine himself in the recent debate about home-based players not getting any attention from Rohr, as he says the Franco-German tactician knows why he believes Nigerian players plying their trade abroad are the solution to the national team’s problems.
“I cannot say why Rohr prefers foreign-based players to those who ply their trade in our domestic league.
“All I know is that he is inviting new players regularly in order to make Nigeria is again a force to reckoned with in the continent.”
