Nasarawa United goalkeeper Danlami Umar has disclosed that his side showed character in their penalty shootouts win against Rivers United in the quarter finals of the ongoing Ahlan Cup.
After the game ended 1-1 at regulation time, the Solid Miners won 6-5 on penalties to book their place in the last four.
“We played against one of the best sides in Nigeria and we showed grit and great character to have come from behind to beat Rivers United,” Danlami Umar told Ahlan Cup Media.
Rivers United went ahead through Fortune Omoniwari early in the second half before Abubakar Lawal’s simple tap in made sure the tie was decided by the lottery of penalties.
Danlami Umar came big as he saved Fortune Omoniwari’s spotkick to deny Rivers United a place in the semi finals.
