Forward Malachi Ohawume has said Rivers United were ‘much the better side’ after his goal gave the Pride of Rivers a 1-0 victory over Kano Pillars at Ahlan Cup 2019 on Saturday.
For the second time in four days at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Ohawume was on song for the Stanley Eguma managed team.
The Pride of Rivers ended up as runners up with seven points in Group B.
“It was a tough game,” Ohawume stated in a chat with Ahlan Cup Media. “But we were much the better team, we went for the win from the start.
“The team gave everything, we delivered for our fans.”
“We wanted the goals to come sooner too and not have to suffer so much, but I think this type of victory make us more of a team and are important for us.”
Rivers United will face Nasarawa United in the quarter finals of Ahlan Cup 2019 on Sunday 13th October at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Kickoff is 4pm.
