Proprietor of Ogun State based football club, Remo Stars of Ikenne, Hon. Kunle Soname has insisted that he’s not bothered about the promotion and sustainability of Remo Stars in the NPFL saying that his club is a well structured football outfit aimed at players development.
Soname, who was speaking at a stakeholders forum of Gateway United football club on Friday in Abeokuta said he sees playing in the NPFL as a waste of time since things aren’t done properly in the league.
“My club has gone up twice and come back twice. For me as a football investor playing in the NPFL is a waste of time, money, energy and other resources”
“Within the past four years, I’ve sent 14 young players to Europe. If I relegate or not, I don’t care. Playing in the league is only meant to prepare the boys for future task ahead alone”
Soname however stressed that once the structure of the club is maintained, promotion into the elite league will come easily.
“I will always tell my coach that you’re not here to automatically promote the team. Player development is the first aim”.
“In doing all these, if properly done, promotion will always come through with it”, Soname concluded.
Remo Stars will play in the second tier of Nigeria football this season, the NNL.
