The OYSADEP Stadium Complex, Saki, witnessed an unprecedented turn out of football lovers on Friday, when Oyo State darling club, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan came calling.
The Oluyole Warriors, in continuation of their preparations for the incoming 2019/20 season of the NNL, are in Saki for a twin friendly outing against Saki United.
The first of the tune up match, which was played on Friday afternoon, saw the Ibadan soccer lords held to a goalless draw, in a match watched by a mammoth crowd.
3SC had to bank on experience to curtail the homers, no thanks to the sandy pitch which did not allow them to play their normal game.
Spurred on by their fans, Saki United players, put up a spirited fight to shock the Stars but met a difficult foe in the coach Edith Agoye tutored lads.
At the end of the encounter, some of the fans, expressed their happiness in seeing Shooting Stars live at their backyard.
“We are happy that Shooting Stars are here to play before our naked eyes. 3SC is our club in Oyo State not only for Ibadan, we are happy to see them play here,”, chorused some of the fans.
They however, urged the management, coaches and the players, to do everything humanly possible to ensure that the team returns to the NPFL at the end of the incoming season, stressing their readiness to come down to Ibadan to cheer the team up in the topflight.
Meanwhile, both sides will take to the pitch again on Saturday by 2.00pm for the second meeting.
