Russia’s Yana Noskova is one of the top-seeded players for the 2019 ITTF Challenge Plus Nigeria Open and she is heading to the commercial never centre of Nigeria, Lagos to garner points for her eventual qualification for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.
explaining her rationale, The Russian star said: “I have now started my Olympic year, so I will try to play more tournaments for my ranking. Also, Nigeria is Challenge Plus tournament where I can amass points.”
She admitted that she was convinced by her compatriots to be part of the party in Nigeria. “I heard from some Russian players, who had played in Nigeria before that the tournament is nice. it is like all other tournaments with a good hotel, good hall and good organization,” she added.
On her target in Lagos, Yana Noskova said: “I will try to show my best. It will be first tournament after small summer rest. So I hope I will start it good. Also we try to show good result in double event with Polina Mikhailova.
she said she intends to practice in Moscow under the watchful eyes of Russian national coach, David Sargsyan for Nigeria Open.
having featured in a junior tournament in Egypt, Yana Noskova said: “I will be visiting Nigeria for the first time and it is really interesting to me to see how things are there.”
