Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) will on Tuesday unveil their latest patrons at the palace of the monarch of Elegusi in Lekki area of Lagos, ahead of which sports247.ng learnt that frenetic plans are already on.
Palace sources said the event will formally mark the investiture of new patrons of the NOC in Ikate, off Lekki-Epe Expressway from 12 noon.
The palace is wearing a new look and security has been beefed up, as a number of politicians are among those to be honoured.
The roll call includes national leader of All Progressive Alliance (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, as well as His Royal Majesty, Oba S. A. Elegushi.
Others are former governor of Delta State Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan as well as Chief (Mrs) Kofoworola Adejoke Nwokedi and Sir Marc Wabara.
The NOC stated that, after Tuesday’s investiture ceremony for patrons from the south, there will be another event for those in the north on the 1st of November in Abuja.
The northern honours list includes His Excellency M. A. Abubakar, Gbong Gwom Jos, Dr Jacob Buba Gyang, Mrs.(Dr) Zainab Bagudu, Alhaji Bashari Mohammed Gumel, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima and a former NOC President Major-General Adamu Dyeri (rtd).
The NOC statement read in part: “The Patrons are being honoured for their contributions to the development of sports in the country and the Olympic movement, in particular.”
