Nigeria and Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has reiterated his desire to improve and bag more goals for his country as he steps up preparation for the 2019 AFCON.

The Super Eagles will begin their final phase of preparations when the team camp’s opens in Asaba, Delta State on Sunday, June 2.

“I will be in camp hopefully, to start preparations for AFCON proper. I am not under any pressure to deliver,” the 2013 U-17 best player said.

“I have been scoring goals for the Super Eagles and I want to score more. There are drought times for every striker and I am not an exemption but I will keep my head up and stay focused.”

The former Manchester City player also explained that he had no words for his critics but would continue to remain inspired and act professionally.

“I am a player who believes in my God-given talent, I believe I can do it and that has always been my source of inspiration right from my formative years.

“My critics always spur me to do more, I have nothing to say about that. I just want to stay focused on my set goals and be professional to the core.”

He added: “People have opinions about me but my opinion should be supreme. My opinion about myself is that, I believe I can and I hope to score goals for the Super Eagles.”

Nigeria will play Zimbabwe on June 8 as part of the preparation for the 2019 AFCON.
