Eagles Abroad: AFCON bound defender gets relegated in Turkey

Super Eagles fullback, Shehu Abdullahi got relegated with his Turkish side Bursaspor in the Turkish Super Lig ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, Sports247 report.

 

The Sokoto-born defender who joined the Green Crocodile from Cyprus Premier League side Anorthosis Famagusta in the summer of 2018 made 13 league appearances and scored a goal for Bursaspor this season.

Despite the 2-1 victory over Yeni Malayaspor in their last game of the league, Bursaspor was relegated as Goztepe also defeated Ankaragucu to secure their league status.

Bursaspor finished the league in the 16th position with 37 points from 34 matches.

Abdullahi who has represented the Super Eagles on 24 occasions since making his debut in 2014 is part of the 25-man provisional list released by coach Gernot Rohr ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
