Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee member, Paul Bassey has predicted that the Super Eagles will beat South Africa in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations reverse fixture.
Although Bassey recalled that the South Africans got a shock 2-0 win away in Uyo from the first match of the race to AFCON 2019, the former sports editor and publisher, believes it would be pay-back day.
Bassy, who is now and chairman of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Akwa United of Uyo boasted in a chat with sports247.ng that the Eagles will beat South Africa on November 17.
The match is scheduled for the iconic FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, where Bafana Bafana hope to get a mystifying effect against the visitors from Nigeria, but Bassey insists the South Africans will fall on their own ground just like they did in Uyo last year.
‘Sports Bassey’ declared: “I am sure we will beat South Africa at their backyard. After seeing what the Super Eagles did against Libya, I have no doubt that they will step up against Bafana Bafana as well.
“All the technical crew needs to do is reorganise themselves against the Bafana Bafana and victory will be assured for us on their home soil.”
