Former D’Tigress captain Mfon Udoka has hailed the national basketball team after they made history recording Nigeria’s first ever FIBA Women’s World Cup win by beating Turkey 74-68.
The African team put up determined display against the European side in the tournament taking place in Spain.
“The girls showed fighting spirit against a highly fancied opposition and overcome all odds to win,” Mfon Udoka said to Sports247.ng.
“They really deserve the result after playing so well. It’s not easy to comeback and win such a high tempo match.”
Udoka who represented Nigeria at the 2006 FIBA Women’s World Cup, concluded, “the girls should simply keep the focus and go for more victories at the ongoing showpiece in Spain.
D’Tigress will face Argentina on Tuesday in their last group game.
