Enugu Rangers secured a spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super Six tournament after a slim 1-0 victory over NPFL newcomer Bendel Insurance on Wednesday, while Abia Warriors are out of the relegation zone after successive victories against Heartland and El-Kanemi Warriors.
Rangers 1-0 Insurance
Rangers International fought hard to secure the maximum points against relegation battling Insurance in Enugu.
After a goalless first half, in which the visitors were able to resist the threat of the hosts, substitute Felix Ogbuke scored with five minutes left to ensure Insurance left Enugu without a point.
Rangers are still first in Group A with 37 points, seven points more than fourth-placed MFM – with just two games remaining.
Tornadoes 1-0 MFM
Niger Tornadoes late push to avoid the drop continued with a slim 1-0 victory over Lagos-based club MFM FC. The lone goal was scored by Ismaila Sarki in the 2nd minute.
MFM, who are fighting to get into the playoff spot are fourth on the log with 29 points, while Tornadoes are currently placed 10th with 21 points.
Abia Warriors 2-1 El-Kanemi
After the massive away victory in Owerri against Heartland, Abia Warriors followed it up with a 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors, who just lost their first game at home in three years to Delta Force on Sunday.
Sulley Mohammed fired the visitors into the lead inside the opening two minutes, but Atilola Tunde Salami got the equalizer, before Samson Obi scored a last-minute winner from the spot.
The result moves Abia Warriors temporarily out of the relegation zone
