Nigeria international William Troost-Ekong has taken to instagram to express his delight as he returned from injury to help Udinese to a 3-1 victory over relegated Frosinone on Sunday.
Ekong played for 76 minutes in the game where two goals from Stefano Okaka and one from Samir gave their Serie A safety hopes a real boost.
The 25-year-old had been out for two weeks after picking up an adductor injury in the match against Sassuolo last month, and missed the games against Atalanta and Inter Milan.
Troost-Ekong posted on instagram, “Good guys. Happy to be back with the team and now we go the other two finals.”
Following this win, Udinese are in 16th position, a point ahead of Genoa and two clear of 18th-placed Empoli.
A win against SPAL on Saturday could save Udinese from relegation, even before playing their final game against Cagliari.
Troost-Ekong’s return is also a big boost for national team coach Gernot Rohr, as preparations for the Nations Cup are underway.
