AFCON 2019: Osimhen Dispel Injury Fears, Seeks Europa Spot with Charleroi

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has put to rest fears about him being unfit for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr was a bit concerned when the 20-year-old missed training at Marcinelle on Tuesday morning, but Osimhen who has 16 goals and four assists so far this term for Sporting Charleroi said he was in good shape.

“Yes I missed training because I needed to rest well and take precautions, but I am fine now,” Osimhen said.

“We remain focused on winning our next game and seal qualification for the Europa League for next season.”

Charleroi currently leads the Belgian First Division A Europa League play-off group A with 13 points from seven games ahead of second placed St.Truiden.

Osimhen is expected to lead Charleroi’s attack this Saturday when they face fifth-placed KFCO Beerschot-Wilrijk.

The 20-year-old is on a season loan deal from German Bundesliga club, Wolfsburg.
