Nigeria international Leon Balogun was missing in action for his English Premier League Brighton as they played out a 1-1 with visiting Newcastle United at the Falmer Stadium on Saturday.
Balogun is finding it difficult to break into the Seagulls starting eleven , no thanks to the partnership of Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk in the heart of the defense.
The former Mainz 05 and Hannover 96 defender has only featured in eight premier league games this season, despite been fully fit for most part of the season.
The 31-year-old lack of game time is a problem for the Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr ahead of the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt this summer.
It would be recalled that Balogun scored his first goal for the Albion against Crystal Palace, when he scored in 25 seconds after replacing Pascal Groß as a result of a Shane Duffy red card for head butting.
