Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen have announced that Flying Eagles invitee, Hamdi Akujobi has signed his first professional contract with them through their official website.
The 19-year-old midfielder is included in the Flying Eagles provisional squad list for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup taking place in Poland.
The young defensive midfielder is expected to join his teammates this weekend in Germany where they would be camped ahead of preparation for the cadet competition.
Speaking on the three-year deal, the club’s technical manager, Gerry Hamstra expresses the club’s satisfaction and discusses about the quality of the Rotterdam-born midfielder.
”We are pleased that today we have again been able to capture a player from the youth for the longer term.
”Hamdi has developed well this season. He is a talented player with a great deal of power, a good fit and with an eye for monitoring the balance in midfield.”
Heerenveen are 11th on the log with 38 points and play their next league game at home to Excelsior.
