Team manager of Rangers International F.C, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku has stated that the final match of the 2018 NFF/Aiteo Federation cup slated for Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba on October 24, 2018 will be full of emotional moments.
Speaking after the ‘Flying Antelopes’ qualified for the final match of the competition in a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Nasarawa United F.C in a semi-final clash inside the main-bowl of Sani Abacha stadium, Kofarmata, Kano, to set up a date with former champions, Kano Pillars F.C in Asaba.
“I must first thank the good people of Kano state for their support all through our stay in the city. The support was massive. Looking at the final match in Asaba against Kano Pillars, I believe, it will be an emotional final match but we shall overcome these emotions and play our game with the sole aim of taking the trophy back to Enugu after a long while. We love Kano people but we have a mission that must be accomplished,” stated the young club administrator.
On the semi-final victory, Ezeaku said, “The performance of our players against Nasarawa United was tied to self belief, determination, strong passion and the never say die spirit of the founding fathers of the club. From two goals down to emerge 4-2 winners is to say the least, mind blowing. Sincerely, I never doubted the positive outcome of the match even when we were two goals down.”
Also reacting to the qualification of Rangers for the finals, former team manager and currently, head of the medical department of the team, Dr. Wen Udeoji, said, “Words cannot describe the way I feel on the manner with which we achieved the win over Nasarawa United. This was made possible by the strong support of the governor of Enugu state, Rt.Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; the GM/CEO of the club, Prince Davidson Owumi and other club officials and the players who displayed enough determination and resilience to turn the tides when it seem that we had lost it. However, I call for us to keep a cool head and still have our heads on our shoulders till we get our hands on the trophy which we are primed to do in Asaba.”
