Golden Eaglets Captain Samson Tijani was awarded the man of the match award in Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Angola in the second Group A game at the Africa U -17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania.
Tijani was superb in the match, as he marshalled Eaglets midfield against the onslaught of the Angolans and joined teammate Akinkunmi Amoo as the two Nigerians with man of the match in the completion.
The talented midfielder however told the media after the game that’s he’s happy to win the award.
“I am happy for being a man of the match today, and my happiness grew higher as we are almost through to the FIFA U-17 World Cup,” he told reporters after the game.
A lone goal from Olakunle Olusegun from the spot in the 20th minute was enough for Nigeria to beat the ten-man Angolans in the game.

The Golden Eaglets are on top of Group A with six points from two matches and needed at least a draw in their last game against Uganda on Saturday to book a place in the semi-final and pick a ticket to the FIFA U -17 World Cup in Brazil.
